Maritime Program Group is the largest U.S. program underwriter of recreational marine insurance
One80 Intermediaries, a privately held, rapidly growing national insurance brokerage and program management firm, today announced that it has acquired Maritime Program Group (MPG), a marine-focused managing general agent (MGA). MPG is the largest recreational marine insurance specialists in the U.S. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Maritime Program Group has over 60 employees deployed across six offices in the Eastern U.S. “We’re excited to bring this talented and knowledgeable team on board,” said Matthew F. Power, One80 Intermediaries President. “The team brings highly specialized capabilities which will significantly add to our current offerings across the country.”
In 2016, One80 acquired Ft. Lauderdale-based marine wholesale insurance specialist, Atlass Special Risk. As with that acquisition, the purchase of MPG will add significantly to the scale and capabilities of One80 Intermediaries.
“As MPG continued to evolve, we identified One80 Intermediaries as a great partner for future growth,” said Christopher Pesce, Maritime Program Group President.
Maritime Program Group offers a complete suite of recreational, inland, and commercial ocean marine solutions, as well as private client personal lines to a network of more than 2,000 brokers across the United States. MPG has a full complement of in-house underwriting programs with the highest-rated domestic carriers, as well as through Lloyds of London as an appointed coverholder. MPG’s deep specialty expertise is reflected in its distinction as the only program underwriter in the marine market holding underwriting authority with the same two carriers for more than 28 years consecutively.
