Joe is the Reinsurance Practice Leader for One80 Intermediaries. One80’s Reinsurance practice lies with an executive team at Waypoint Underwriting Management that has started, owned and run multiple reinsurance platforms over the last 25 years. One80 acquired Waypoint in November 2024 to ensure we can be a meaningful partner to our cedents. Joe has 30 years experience in the insurance industry and has served in a number of important leadership roles throughout his career.

Prior to founding Waypoint, Joe held the role of Chief Operating Officer, Reinsurance – North America for XL Catlin, a position he assumed following the merger of the two firms in 2015. At Catlin, he was President and Chief Underwriting Officer for Catlin Underwriting Inc. having previously been Chief Underwriting Officer for Workers Comp and Accident & Health Reinsurance since 2003. Before joining Wellington/Catlin, Joe was Founding Principal and Chief Underwriting Officer of Reinsurance Management Group, an MGU specializing in Workers Compensation, Accident & Health and Medical Reinsurance. Joe began his career in 1990 as a primary underwriter, writing P&C coverages for contractors in New York.
